Penang style cream puffs

Cream puffs are a favourite snack for my family. Originating from Penang, my family has certain expectations on how a good cream puff should be. It's not like the ones that's found in the bakeries here where the filling is plain whipped cream. A good cream puff by Penang Nyonya standards should be one that's filled with smooth custard cream. It took me a long time to find the recipe and I'm proud to say that it's got my family's seal of approval.

This is the choux pastry that's just been piped, waiting to be baked.

Now it's baking .... see how it rises. This is my favourite part coz it's when the wonderful smell wafts through the whole house.
This is the final result with the custard cream filling.

It's especially yummy straight from the fridge!
